Normal is not Optimal - Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis

Normal is not Optimal

Here's a far too typical scenario. Someone is not feeling well. They get referred for a blood test to try to figure out what is wrong. After the blood test, they call the doctor or hospital for the results and are told "When we get the results, we will give you a call if something is wrong. If you don't hear from us, that means your lab tests were fine." Seriously? Or how about this one: you are told that "the lab test was a little high, we'll just keep an eye on it." Seriously? Isn't that just code language that the numbers are not bad enough to prescribe a drug, but if you continue on your course of ill health, soon enough we can write you a prescription. Nearly all of us want to avoid taking drugs. Most people are not excited when they get to go to the pharmacy to get a drug.

Blood Chemistry really is a wonderful tool. But all too often lab results are looked at individually and within a very broad range of what may be considered normal. Understand that normal, medically speaking, means you are not in the absolute disease or crisis range. Normal does not mean healthy. Ideally, blood chemistry should be analyzed and looked at for optimal ranges rather than only a state of severe disease. When all of the lab result numbers are correlated with all of the other numbers, a much different picture can be revealed.

A Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis (FBCA) and report takes your lab data and analyzes it to help you understand what's going on inside your body. Like a fingerprint, people are individuals with unique biochemical characteristics. Even people with the same diagnosis or condition can have different contributing imbalances. That's why for optimal results, health decisions should incorporate understandable information about your biochemistry that you can take action on, and will lead you to definite improvement and results.  The bottom line of any test, analysis and treatment must be RESULTS. Blood chemistry results, for optimal benefit must be analyzed, searching for pathways to optimal health rather than simply waiting for disease with pharmaceutical management.

We are truly excited to have discovered and  begun utilizing Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis - FBCA developed by Dr. Dicken Weatherby.

Are you interested in learning what is really going on with your health? Lab work and Blood Chemistry is great, but only if it can be used to restore you to better health.  When lab data can give you accurate diagnoses that not only shows you what is wrong, but also where your health is trending, you are in a position to do something about it.

One of the great things about FBCA is our ability to correlate with Standard Process supplements.  I have been recommending Standard Process for over 30 years.  Standard Process is unique because of their use of taking whole foods to make their supplements. You get the active ingredients plus all of the co-factors, synergists, buffers, etc. Everything God, and nature, designed for the complete utilization of what you need. Nearly all vitamin supplements on the market today are manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. Ingredients are purchased by supplement manufacturers and they combine and package them. And sadly, a recent study showed that many of these vitamin supplements are tainted or contaminated with pharmaceuticals or drugs. What?!!! That is truly worrisome.

Standard Process is one of the very few companies who truly grow and manufacture their own supplements.  I, and thousands of other practitioners, have found great results using Standard Process.

To run your existing blood chemistry results normally runs $150.  For the month of December the cost for the Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, complete with a Functional Health Report and Nutritional recommendations, will be only $75.  Share with us your Blood Chemistry results.  Let us run the numbers and receive a detailed analysis and report (50 - 80 pages in length) with clear and significant recommendation during your FBCA consultation.

If you have been frustrated with the lack of clear direction in improving your health, this can be your answer; the difference between bumping along the downward spiral of declining health and understanding the steps to regaining your health and vitality.

Prayer as a Healing Path

Prayer as a Healing Path
I don't know about you, but for me and many others, prayer is tricky. How do I exert consistent prayer that actually reaches farther than my bedroom ceiling? Especially when I'm exhausted, discouraged, depressed or just not feeling 'in-tune'.
I believe that none of us have signed up for the easy life. Life is hard - by design. We are designed to make mistakes. It is through making mistakes, call it sin if you like, but by making mistakes we can learn, grow and progress. I remember years ago visiting with someone who was very wealthy. She shared with us some of her artwork, her Steinway Grand piano and her lavishly decorated home and then declared "I have everything I want. I have no need for God". Thank God, my life is such that I need God. Like you, I've had challenges, set backs, disappointments and heartbreaks. I believe part of Gods brilliant plan is that we are put into situations that are beyond our capability to get out of by our own wits and determination.
Isn't it interesting how others perceive us as opposed to how we see ourselves? A recent survey of "the popular kids" revealed that they each felt like they didn't fit in. I find that most of us feel the same. We feel like outsiders to a greater or lesser degree. Our goal and purpose with prayer is not only to commune with God but to experience a closeness, even a sense of belonging and becoming part of God, his daughters and sons.
Here are a couple of effective strategies I have discovered on my journey in my relationship with God.
I often teach my patients what I refer to as the 3-word prayer. For me this is one of the most basic of contacts with deity. In times of distress, weakness and angst, I simply cry out from my heart - GOD HELP ME! When this brief prayer is expressed, I imagine a fine filament of light connecting from Gods heart to mine. I repeat it again - God help me. And another strand of light connects us. Some days this prayer erupts from my soul 20, even 30 times. This prayer helps. As time passes your connection with God will strengthen. Give it a try.

Another type of prayer that can be profoundly beneficial is the written prayer. In the culture I grew up in, prayer is expected to be spontaneous. If I were asked to offer a prayer in church and pulled out some notes before I began it would create a stir or a least some disapproving conversation. In learning to pray, I was taught to follow a certain pattern and generally wing it or to ultimately be so in tune with the spirit that the words would be given to me as they flowed effortlessly from my mouth. Sorry, but I'm not often 'in tune' enough or eloquent as I'd like to be. Of course, I need to express myself. Pour out my heart, definitely. But most often, my words are not so carefully expressed that they adequately convey the intent of my heart. Admittedly most of my praying is spontaneous, but there are times I want a bit more. Have you ever revisited a conversation or prayer and wished you had said something differently or better?
I had an experience years ago journaling. I decided to write my prayer to God. By writing, the words came much slower than speaking. And as a result, for me, they seemed to flow less hurried and were more reflective and guided by the spirit. As this prayer flowed on, I felt inspired to say and express myself much better than I had previously. You may want to consider a prayer journal. An inexpensive lined and bound school notebook for under a dollar. Make an effort to write by hand rather than type on a computer. There is something about forming each word by hand that lends itself to a better connection to God and spirit than by typing. At least that is what I have experienced.
Finally, the Recited Prayer. While many Christians rely on memorized or recited prayers (ie. The Lords Prayer), others classify recited prayers as vain repetition (with negative connotation). Many churches have some set prayers that are recited verbatim and others not so much. I have discovered that a carefully worded prayer that is written down and then recited from memory or read can guide me through the process. To be honest when I have a specific desire or challenge I am working through, I tend to fade in my consistent prayer efforts after a few days. If I have a prayer that truly expresses my desires, I have found great benefit in using the same prayer repeatedly. Of course, in my personal and intimate prayer sessions, I am free to wander wherever the spirit my guide me. But repeating a prayer day in and day out for many days will draws out of my soul a deeper and much more profound experience. It can become a much more meditative and meaningful experience. It is like memorizing a favorite piece on the piano. By playing the same piece again and again, I can uncover the secrets hidden within and between the notes. In fact, it is not until I have examined every nuance, phrase and intonation of the piece, that I discover the richness of it. I believe the great and inspired music can touch our soul with Gods. This is my listening repeatedly to a masterful piece of music can be so enriching. So too, prayer that is meticulously pondered and expressed can reach heights and depths unavailable to the casual practitioner.
I have also discovered that when I read a prayer that may have been scripted by someone else, it can express and convey words and meanings that are put better than me. It is like when someone says something and it just resonates with me and I find myself thinking, "yeah, me too - that's how I feel". Better yet, I can copy a prayer, tweak it to my own needs and desires and rewrite it making it mine. The process definitely evolves and rewrites are rewritten time and again. Then focus can shift and the process can begin anew.
I have really enjoyed the writings of John Eldredge. He is a Christian writer that has written extensively on many topics. On his webpage (www.ransomedheart.com) , he offers many prayers that can be used verbatim or as a template. I invite you to click on this link and explore some of these prayers.
People have been offering prayers since time began. We yearn to belong. We ache for connection. Yet we struggle. Prayer is the path. But a casual or half-hearted approach will produce only lack luster results. If you are in need of healing dedicate a prayer specific to that purpose. If you haven't yet offered a specific prayer to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, repeat this prayer - try it daily for a few weeks. If you seek freedom from addiction or unwanted behaviors, craft a specific prayer for that. If all you can muster as this point is the 3-word prayer - God Help Me! Then begin there. I promise you will become a better man, a better woman. As our intent to draw closer to your God is true, God will not dis you or reject you because you aren't doing it right. But as you pray, vocally or silently, you will receive strength, hope, comfort and knowledge from the very eternal father of your soul.
Blessings,

AutoImmune Recovery Protocols

AutoImmune Recovery Protocols
Dr Kyle Christensen May 2018

The key to recovery from autoimmunity is to rebuild the immune systems, kill the stealthy pathogens, heal the digestive system, and restore the damaged tissues (as best we can). Then of course, prevention of future problems is insured by a healthy lifestyle.

We recommend several options for recovery. The first is using products from Standard Process. We hardily endorse these great products and thousands have found success with these products and protocols. Secondly, for those who would like, we also offer herbal remedies that can be made on your own that will replace some of the MediHerb products (the herbal line from Standard Process). When making your own remedies from formulas we have developed, you can save money as well as create quantities sufficient for yourself and those you seek to care for.

Of course, a healthy diet, adequate sleep and relaxation, moderate exercise, keeping well hydrated, and allergy elimination treatments (if needed) are important. Your emotional and spiritual health cannot be overlooked. We have tools and guidelines that can help. Understand we are not interested in a quick and shallow fix that will only temporarily ease symptoms. The goal is true health. True recovery will take effort and some changes.  Much of what you have done is right on target. Here we give you a systematic program that can make the decisive difference.

We are here for you to answer you questions and concerns. To guide you and help motivate you.

Blessings,

Dr Kyle Christensen

Rebuilding the Immune System
This is the first key in your recovery. If you don’t feel well and haven’t for a while, you need to start here. Many suffer from chronic low-level infections. Having a healthy and robust immune system is vital to your recovery.
Plan for 2-3 months for rebuilding the immune system (usually feeling better in 3-4 weeks)

Standard Process Protocol
1.     Echinacea Premium 2-3/day
2.     Rehmannia Complex 3-4/day
3.     Immuplex 3-6/day
4.     Three Kings (Gold/Frankincense & Myrrh) 6 capsules/day
5.     PMG (protomorphogen – the protein of the DNA found within the nucleus of the cell – each cell type having a different protomorphogen) – use the one where they have symptoms
Work up to taking 6 per day
Take on empty (30 minutes before eating or 2 hours after eating)
Additional you can add for a quicker, better result
6.     Vitanox 1-2/day
7.     Calcium Lactate 1 tsp-1 Tbs/day
8.     Standard Process – Daily Fundementals Packets (1 packet morning and 1 packet evening containing: 3 Catalyn, 1Trace Mineral-B12, 2 Tuna Omega-3 oil)

Why take a Protomorphogen
Protomorphogens (pro-toe-more-fo-gen) or PMG supplements manufactured by Standard Process that will help your organ/gland or tissue that may be having a problem as result of autoimmunity. Protomorphogens are the protein from the DNA of the cells. Protomorphogens tie up the negative antibodies and calls off the immune attack of the organ, gland or tissue. PMG buys time for the body to heal by diverting the antibodies away from the tissue so it can heal. PMG calms down the autoimmune response to that tissue. PMG are made from and are for specific organs, glands or tissues.

Four Functions of Protomorphogens (PMG)
1. Acts as a Decoy: The immune system Antibodies attacks the PMG in the digestive tract instead of the organ or gland
2. Oral Tolerance/desensitization/tolerization: Consuming an antigen (the PMG) orally makes the immune system less aggressive against itself.
3. A Rich source of mircoRNA, which help regulate gene expression in all cells while helping to rebuild healthy DNA.
4. Nutrition: protein & trace minerals in the PMG provide nutritional building block to restore and rebuild damaged or compromised organs, glands and tissues.

Protocol for taking a Protomorphogen
PMG’s are best taken on an empty stomach - 30 min before eating or 2 hours after eating/before bed
Build up your dosage of PMG over a week
Take 1 tablet morning, then 1 evening for 2 days
Take 2 tablets morning, 2 evening for 3-4 days
then 3 in the morning, 3 evening
If you have any reaction (histamine response – runny nose, feeling achy) this is actually a positive response letting you know we have found the correct area to work on because the immune system is reacting to the protomorphogen. You may need to back off the amount of PMG or take it with food to minimize the reaction. Occasionally some need and can only take small doses at first. Again, if you experience a reaction – you are definitely on the right track – you just need to proceed more slowly.

Healthy Low-Inflammation Diet

A Healthy Low-Inflammation Diet
A healthy diet is essentially what I refer to as a Vegetarian that cheats.  Namely, a whole natural foods diet that is predominantly vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds with the addition of wholesomely produced eggs, dairy products and meats. Not only is the quality of our food important but also how it is prepared. The benefits of eating healthy go beyond good taste and nutrition.  There is even a spiritual component to eating healthy foods. Eating healthy is simple, but in our day and age, not easy.

Guidelines for a Super Healthy Healing Low Inflammation Diet

  • Eat whole, natural foods.
  • Eat only foods that will spoil, but eat them before they do.
  • Eat naturally-raised meat including fish, seafood, poultry, beef, lamb, game, organ meats and eggs.
·       Eat whole, naturally-produced milk products from pasture-fed cows, preferably raw and/or fermented, such as whole yogurt, kefir, cultured butter, whole cheeses, crème fresh and sour cream. Dairy consumption should be limited.
  • Use only traditional fats and oils including butter and other animal fats, extra virgin olive oil, expeller expressed sesame and flax oil and the tropical oils—coconut and palm oils.  These good fats are needful and very healthy.
  • Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably organic, in salads and soups, or lightly steamed.  Fruits and vegetables should be eaten in the appropriate seasons.
  • Use whole grains and nuts that have been prepared by soaking, sprouting or sourdough leavening to neutralize phytic acid and other anti-nutrients.
·       Breads should be whole grain organic, sourdough and made fresh. Freshly ground flour is optimal.
·       Include enzyme-enhanced lacto-fermented vegetables (sauerkraut), fruits, beverages and condiments in your diet on a regular basis.  These contain probiotics or the good bacteria and are super healthy for the digestive tract. Everyday eat some sauerkraut, Kim Chi, kvass, kefir, yogurt or Kombucha.
  • Prepare homemade meat stocks from the bones of chicken, beef, lamb or fish and use liberally in soups and sauces. The gelatin and minerals can heal digestive issues.
  • Sprout seeds and legumes.  They are packed with nutrition and extremely healthy.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, rosemary, basil, ginger and oregano.
  • Use herb teas and coffee substitutes in moderation.
  • Use filtered water for cooking and drinking.  Chlorinated tap water is unhealthy.
  • Use unrefined Celtic Sea Salt or Real Salt and a variety of herbs and spices for food interest and appetite stimulation.
  • Make your own salad dressing using raw vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and expeller expressed flax oil. Organic cold-pressed oils are also good choices.
  • Use natural sweeteners in moderation, such as raw honey, maple syrup, dehydrated cane sugar juice and stevia powder.
  • Cook only in stainless steel, cast iron, glass or good quality enamel.
  • Use only natural whole food and herbal supplements.
  • Get plenty of sleep, exercise and natural light.
  • Think positive thoughts and minimize stress.
  • Practice forgiveness.  Forgiveness means letting go of negative & harmful emotions.
Anti-Inflammatory Foods to emphasize

·       Blue berries
·       Raw Oats
·       Ginger
·       Green Tea
·       Dark Chocolate
·       Wild Salmon
·       Turmeric
·       Beets
·       Broccoli (cruciferous)
·       Black beans
·       EVOO – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
·       Tomatoes
·       Chia seeds
·       Pineapple
·       Spinach
·       Whole Grains (Quinoa, Brown Rice, Millet, Amaranth)
·       Eggs
·       Garlic

An Unhealthy High-Inflammation Diet

We live in a culture that actively markets food that is unhealthy.  Foods that are highly processed, laden with chemical preservatives, additives, hormones, antibiotics and many artificial substances that can result in poor health and disease.  Today we see degenerative diseases such as diabetes in children when a generation ago this was almost nonexistent. We are free to choose the foods we eat, but cannot choose the consequences.  Remember, it is not what you eat some of the time, but what you eat most of the time that ultimately determines your health.  Eating healthy may not be as convenient, but poor health is really inconvenient.

Listed below is a list of foods that have proven to cause health problems and increase the risk of degenerative disease. Sadly, this is also a list of the typical American Diet.

Dietary Dangers

  • Don't eat commercially processed foods such as cookies, cakes, crackers, TV dinners, soft drinks, packaged sauce mixes, Ramen noodles, etc.
  • Avoid all refined sweeteners such as sugar, dextrose, glucose and high fructose corn syrup.
  • Avoid white flour, white flour products and white rice.
  • Avoid all hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats and oils.
  • Avoid all vegetable oils made from soy, corn, safflower, canola or cottonseed.
  • Do not use polyunsaturated oils for cooking, sauteing or baking.
  • Avoid fried foods.
  • Do not practice strict vegetarianism (veganism); animal products provide vital nutrients not found in plant foods.
  • Avoid products containing protein powders.
  • Avoid pasteurized milk; do not consume lowfat milk, skim milk, powdered milk or imitation milk products.
  • Avoid mass-produced eggs and factory-farmed meats.
  • Avoid highly processed luncheon meats and sausage containing MSG and other additives.
  • Avoid rancid and improperly prepared seeds, nuts and grains found in granolas, quick rising breads and extruded breakfast cold cereals, as they block mineral absorption and cause intestinal distress.
  • Avoid canned, sprayed, waxed, bioengineered (GMO) or irradiated fruits and vegetables.
  • Avoid artificial food additives, especially MSG, hydrolyzed vegetable protein and aspartame, which are neurotoxins. Most soups, sauce and broth mixes and commercial condiments contain MSG, even if not so labeled.
  • Avoid caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, tea and soft drinks.
  • Avoid aluminum-containing foods such as commercial salt, baking powder and antacids. Do not use aluminum cookware or aluminum-containing deodorants.
  • Do not drink fluoridated water.
  • Avoid synthetic vitamins and foods containing them.
  • Do not drink distilled liquors.
  • Do not use a microwave oven.

Wow!! Avoiding all of these foods can be a tremendous challenged that not everyone is up for, however, look at the health of our country and your family then decide if it is appropriate to make any changes.
