Appalachian Broom Making


Appalachian Broom Making                          $300 class fee

Our broom classes take a traditional skill to a new artistic level. Use hand-tying and stitching techniques to make decorative brooms that are superb sweepers and make excellent gifts. Learn broom handle selection, preparation, surface finishing, and broom corn selection. We will also cover some of the history of broom making. This class will prepare you to move forward with your new broom skills and continue to develop this unique creative craft.

Product: Floor sweeper broom, round cobweb broom, hearth broom, whisk broom and pot scrubber.

REGISTRATION: Registration is based on a first pay first come basis due to the small class size. A minimum of 3 students are needed to carry a class. We can accommodate up to 10 students at one class.

A deposit of $150 dollars must accompany application. 50% of the deposit is non-refundable. Full payment or your balance is requested prior to class or the first day of class. Please call if you change in your plans and will not be attending your class, or if you will be arriving late.


If you need additional information about a class or would like help in planning your stay, Please call us. Bring with you to class an old used hacksaw blade and a pocket knife. Everything else will be provided.
Class will begin at 9:00 am sharp (please don’t be late) and end each day about 5 or 6 pm.

Upon receipt of your $150 to hold your spot or full payment I will email you a copy of the class agenda.
